2008... t'was a good year for me...

Before the year ends.. i would like to take this chance of recalling why year 2008 has been a good year for me..

1. I was able to start the year with a big bang. We've been celebrating New Year with a sort of a family reunion. A tradition that will sure last a life time.. All the members of the family were here except my brother who lives now in US. All my 3 sisters and their respective families were all here.

2. My Last birthday, May 2008. i was able to celebrate with my friends whom i've met from the cyberspace. This was the first time i celebrated my birthday with these guys. Joms, Melvin, Rod and James.. Thanks guys...

Tagayan places...

Aside from quattro, ( I have an entry in my blog about this place ), there are other two places which i frequently go whenever I drink. The db bar.. also known as doc's boy grill and restaurant. It is located along congressional avenue in Quezon City. This where the GEB of the Walang Mukha Thread was held last Dec of 2007. Organized by one of the members. A lot times I've been here and certainly this place will be considered a memorable place for me. And this also a favorite place for all the gimikeros along the area.

The next is this place so called NOVA STOP. It is located at Robinson's Place Near the Bus Station along Quirino Avenue, in Novaliches Q.C. This is where the first time I tugged along my first ever drinking buddy, Tagay.

What makes db bar and nova stop favorite place for me ? Aside from its proximity from which I live, lots memorable things happened here. Moments of happiness, of strengthening ties between friends.. promising each other to have a long lasting friendship.

Moments being together ( Final part )

Matapos ang mahaba at makabuluhang kwentuhan, nakaramdam kami pareho ng gutom. Naglakad lakad hanggang sa makarating kami sa Plaza Raja Solayman. (hindi ko sure kung yun nga ang tawag sa lugar na iyon) kung saan matatagpuan ang malaking fountain. Sa gilid nito ay matatagpuan ang mga food resto. Nag decide akong dalhin siya sa Shakey's Pizza. Pagpasok namin ay napansin namin may birthday party. Nagkakasayahan ang mga tao. May parlor games pa. "Tamang tama.. birthday mo ngayon.. dito na lang nating i celebrate birthday mo... makiparty tayo hahaha" sabi ko sa kanya habang papasok sa loob ng resto.

Nakahanap kami ng bakanteng lamesa sa gilid at doon pumwesto. Nagpatuloy ang aming kwentuhan habang nag aantay ng inorder naming food. "Salamat talaga. Pinasaya mo birthday ko. Nahihiya ako sayo, ikaw pa nagcelebrate ng birthday ko" sambit niya. "Ano ka ba!.. ala yun.. birthday mo kaya dapat lang icelebrate" tugon ko..

Matapos kaming kumain, lumabas kami at nagpasiyang pumunta sa tabi ng fountain.. doon naupo kami sa bench habang ako ay nag sindi ng isang stick ng yosi. Lumapit sa amin ang isang grupo ng mga paslit na bata na sa tingin namin ay wala pang kamuwang muwang at nagpipilit na kumanta ng christmas song na hindi naman namin maintindihan kung anong lyrics yung kanilang kinakanta. Nakakaaliw ang mga bata sa kabila ng kanilang gusgusing kasuotan ang mapapansin mo pa din ang tuwa sa kanilang mga mukha habang kumakanta ng awit pamasko. Tuwang tuwa kaming pinapanood sa harap namin ang mga batang paslit. Naroong magbatukan ang mga bata kasi hindi nila maumpisahan ang pagkanta. Naaliw ang aking kasama sa panonood sa mga bata. Inabutan na lang namin ng konting barya ang mga musmos.

Mula sa lugar na iyon, nag tungo kami sa shaw blvd kung saan malapit ang uuwian ng aking kaibigan. At nagdecide kami magpahinga sandali sa isang pribadong lugar kung saan kami ay mas lalo kaming magkakaroon ng intimate moments. (di ko na kwento in detailed kung ano mga nangyari.. alam niyo na yun! hehehe)

Sa mga ganitong pagkakataon, napasarap ng feelings na sa mga moments na ganito, kasama mo ang taong pinapahalagahan mo. Taong mahal mo. Taong binibigyan mo nag atensyon. Ako, bibihiran mangyari sakin ang mga ganitong moments. Kung sa akala niyo ay may relasyon kami ng kasama ko.. Oo may relasyon kami pero hindi ito isang ordinaryong relasyon. We dont consider ourselves as lovers.. And we opted not to become lovers. At sa tingin namin pareho ay mas higit pa sa lovers. We're just FRIENDS who really inlove with each other. Emphasize ko yung FRIENDS, kasi mas tingin namin na mas magiging maganda ang relasyon namin kung mananatili kaming magkaibigan. Pagkakaibigan na pang habang buhay.

Moments being together (part two)

Mula sa Sm manila, nagpunta kami ng Luneta, hoping na sana maabautan namin ang paglubog ng araw. Pero sa kasamaang palad, medyo padilim na ang langit nang kami makarating sa likod ng Quirino Grandstand. Nang kami ay naglalakad pa lang patungo sa breakwaters sa likod ng grandstand, nadaanan namin ang mga tao na msayang nagpapahinga at nagkukuwentuhan sa damuhan. May mga nagpapalipad ng saranggola. Nakita ko sa mukha niya ang nasiyahan habang nakatingin sa mga saranggola. Pabiro pa nga niyang sinabi."Ano kaya kung gumawa ako ng saranggola na hugis etits? hahaha" Bigla kaming nagtawanan.

Nang dumako kami sa breakwaters. Excitement at panghihinayang ang aming naramdaman. Excitement na makita ang kapaligiran. Mapayapang dagat, bughaw na langit, na nagaagaw dilim at liwanag. Panghihinayang na hindi namin naabutan ang mismong paglubog ng araw. Naupo kami simento nakaharap sa dagat. Magandang simula ng aming kwetuhan. Nasabi ko sa kanya na iyon ang isa sa mga pinaka paborito kong lugar na puntahan kapag gusto kong mapag isa. Masilayan lang ang ganda ng paglubog ng araw. Malas nga lang at hindi namin naabutan. Naitanong ko sa kanya kung kelan ang huling pagkakataon na napunta sa siya lugar na iyon. At napag alaman kong musmos pa lang siya nang huli siyang nakarating , huling alaala niya ay mga edad sampu yata. Kaya hindi katakataka kung makitaan ko siya ng pagka excited habang naglalakad pa lang kami patungo sa lugar na iyon. Nakita ko ang kamusmosan sa kanyang mukha. Na parang bata na excited makita ang kapaligiran.

Mga halos 30 mins na usapan.. bigla kong naisip na kalapit lugar lang ang baywalk na naging popular na lugar sa mga ganito panahon ng kapaskuhan. So nag decide kami na pumunta sa lugar na yon. Binagtas namin ang Roxas Blvd. habang nagkukwentuhan. Narealized ko na masarap talagang maglakad lakad habang nakikipag kwentuhan lalo na ang kasama mo ay mahal mo at importante sa buhay mo.

Nang marating namin ang baywalk... hindi gaanong madami ang tao. mangilan ngilan lang ang naka upo sa breakwaters.. nagkukwentuhan at yung iba ay kumakain.. grupo grupo at may dalawahan, babae at lalaki na sa unang tingin pa lang ay tipong magkarelasyon. Hehehe... Naglakad lakad pa kami at nang makaramdam kami ng uhaw dulot na aming paglalakad, tamang may nagtitinda ang sari sari sa isang tabi. Bumili kami ng maiinom at makakain, na tamang sa tapat ay may magandang pwesto. Naupo kami bitbit ang binili naming C-2 ice tea at chitchiria.. Nag patuloy kami sa aming kwentuhan. But this time, medyo seryosong kwentuhan ang naganap. Kwento tungkol sa kaniya kanyang buhay. Ako bilang nakakatanda, na ibahagi ko sa kanya ang ilang karanasan sa buhay ko na sa tingin ko ay kapupulutan niya ng aral. Na ang tanging tagubilin ko sa kanya ay sikapin niyang makatapos ng pag aaral upang sa ganon ay marating niya ang kanyang mga pangarap sa buhay. Minsan na i share niya sa akin ang one dream niya.. ang magkaroon ng sariling condo unit. Para daw masubukan niyang mamuhay ng independent. "Pag natupad yung parangap ko na magkaroon ng sariling condo, ikaw ang unang una kong papupuntahin". Bigla niyang nasambit. Labis na kasiyahan ang aking naramdaman nung sandaling marinig ko sa kanya iyon. Kung iisipin, matagal pa mangyari ang mga bagay na iyo, "Salamat pala ha. Pinasaya mo ang birthday ko. Hindi ako nag celebrate ng birthday ko sa bahay. Pero salamat talaga at ikaw pa ang nagblow out sakin".

Moments being together... (part one)

"Arigato gozaimas! salamat for making my birthday a very special one! I was really touched by what you did. Im so happy. Ingat ka pauwi, God bless. Love you friend, "til then!"

This was the message i received from him after we parted ways last night. Matagal na pinagplanuhan ang pagkakataong iyon. December 5 ang actualy birthday niya. But since family first ika nga.. Minabuti naming icelebrate ng late ang birthday niya.

Usapan namin ay sa SM Manila kami magkikita. Lugar na parehong malayo sa amin. Pero ito ang napili kong lugar para malapit sa lugar kung saan ko talaga balak siyang dalhin. Sa Luneta.. sa likod ng Quirino Grandstand... (korni man yung place pero isa itong lugar na napaka special sa akin).

Alas dos y media nang magkita kami sa harap ng National Bookstore, malapit sa entrace gate ng Sma Manila. Malayo pa lang siya ay kita ko na agad ang excitement sa kanyang mukha. Ito ang pangalawang pagkakataon na kami ay magkikita. Tatlong linggo na ang nakararaan nang una kami magkita sa gateway mall sa cubao. Matapos magkamustahan, inaya ko agad siyang maglalakad lakad sa loob ng mall hanggang makarating kami sa 4th floor kung saan naroon ng mga sinehan. Nung una hindi ko alam kung anong movie ang papanoorin namin. Hanggang sa mag decide ako na "Quantum of Solace" na lang ang panoorin namin. James Bond movie. Matapos magbayad ng ticket. napag alaman kong 3:30pm pa mag uumpisa ang palabas kaya inaya ko muna siya sa jollibee upang kumain ng large fries at softdrinks. Matapos makakuha ng order sa counter, nagpatuloy ang aming kwentuhan habang kumakain ng french fries. Titig ako sa kanyang mga mata habang siya ay nagsasalita. Kita ko ang saya at tuwa ng mga sandaling iyon. "Friend, thank you ha. Salamat talga" . Bigla niya nasambit. Alam kong sincere naman siya sa kanyang sinabi. Kaya imbes na magsalita ako at tanging ngiti na lang ang naisukli ko.

Pagtingin ko sa oras, saktong 3:20pm na at inaya ko na niya pumasok sa loob ng sinehan. Sa loob, napansin kong walang tao sa orchestra.. at bukod tanging kaming dalawa lang yata ang naroroon. Naisip ko tuloy.. parang nagbayad kami ng buong movie house para lang sa aming dalawa. Mula sa umpisa hanggang sa matapos ang palabas ay wala akong nakita ni isa man lang na pumasok. Talagang kaming dalawa lang ang nasa loob. Maganda ang palabas. Puro action, James Bond movie yata yun. What do we expect? hehehe.. Kapag may mga magagandang eksena, nagpapalitan kami ng reaction. nagkakatawanan paminsan minsan. Pero aware kami sa isat isa na nagpapakiramdaman lang kaming dalawa. Dahil na din sa kasabikan namin sa isat isa, ako na rin ang unang nag hagilap ng kanyang kamay upang hawakan. How romantic diba? HHWWM... as in Holding Hands While Watching Movie.. hahaha.. korni.. hehehe.

quattro .. favorite na tambayan

Makailang beses na din akong napunta s lugar na ito. Hindi maikakailang isa itong lugar na madalas tambayan ng mga mahilig gumimik sa gabi. Ito ay matatagpuan sa Timog Ave. sa Quezon City. Unang nagpakilala sakin ng lugar na ito ang ang kaibigang si Joms aka Mugen. Natatandaan ko December 2007 nang una akong napunta dito. Kasama ang kaibigang si Mugen at si Deathnote, at dalawa pang kaibigan ni Mugen na sina Roy at Dodong. Galing kami sa isang GEB na aming pinuntahan na sa Timog Ave. din matatagpuan.

Dito din ako unang nag celebrate ng aking birthday kasama ang mga PLU na kaibigan. Kasama ko si Mugen, deathnote, rodddd, at si GCube na pawang mga naging kaibigan ko sa mundo ng cyber.

May mga pagkakataon din biglang nagkakaayaan kaming magkakaibigan at unang naiiisip naming puntahan at tambayan ang lugar na ito. Natatandaan ko pa nga na minsan, nagkaroon kami ng tagayan ng dalawa sa aking pinakamalapit na kaibigan na sina Mugen at si Tagay. At dito nabuo ang aming panghabang buhay na pagkakaibigan. At mula noon at sa tuwing pupunta kami sa lugar na ito. Lalong nagiging matibay ang samahan at pagkakaibigan.

Ang Quattro ay nagsilbing tanging saksi sa mga moments na hindi ko makakalimutan. Moments ng pagkakaibigan, ng pagsasamahan. Lumipas man ang mahabang panahon.. quattro pa din ang magsisilbing alala ng pagkakaibigan.

All Saint's Day

History

In the early Church, Christians would celebrate the anniversary of a martyr's death for Christ—known as the saint's "birth day"—by serving an All-Night Vigil, and then celebrating the Eucharist over their tomb or the shrine at their place of martyrdom. In the fourth century, neighbouring dioceses began to transfer relics, and to celebrate the feast days of specific martyrs in common. Frequently, a number of Christians would suffer martyrdom on the same day, which naturally led to a joint commemoration. In the persecution of Diocletian the number of martyrs became so great that a separate day could not be assigned to each. The Church, feeling that every martyr should be venerated, appointed a common day for all.

A commemoration of "All Martyrs" began to be celebrated as early as the year 270, although no specific month or date is mentioned in existing records.^[2] The first trace of a general celebration on a specific day is attested in Antioch on the Sunday after Pentecost.^[3] There is mention of a common day in a sermon of St. Ephrem the Syrian (373), and the custom is also referred to in the 74th Homily of St. John Chrysostom (†407), who speaks of a "feast of martyrs of the whole world."^[4] As early as 411, there is found among the Chaldean Christians a general commemoration of all Confessors (Commemoratio Confessorum), celebrated on the Friday after Easter.^[3]

In the East

Among Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholics, All Saints Sunday (Greek: Αγίων Πάντων, Agiōn Pantōn), follows the ancient tradition of commemorating all saints collectively on the first Sunday after Pentecost.

The feast of All Saints achieved great prominence in the ninth century, in the reign of the Byzantine Emperor, Leo VI "the Wise" (886–911). His wife, Empress Theophano—commemorated on December 16—lived a devout life. After her death, her husband built a church, intending to dedicate it to her. When he was forbidden to do so, he decided to dedicate it to "All Saints," so that if his wife were in fact one of the righteous, she would also be honored whenever the feast was celebrated. According to tradition, it was Leo who expanded the feast from a commemoration of All Martyrs to a general commemoration of All Saints, whether martyrs or not.

This Sunday marks the close of the Paschal season. To the normal Sunday services are added special scriptural readings and hymns to all the saints (known and unknown) from the Pentecostarion.

The Sunday following All Saints Sunday—the second Sunday after Pentecost—is set aside as a commemoration of all locally venerated saints, such as "All Saints of America", "All Saints of Mount Athos", etc. The third Sunday after Pentecost may be observed for even more localized saints, such as "All Saints of St. Petersburg", or for saints of a particular type, such as "New Martyrs of the Turkish Yoke."

In addition to the Sundays mentioned above, Saturdays throughout the year are days for general commemoration of all saints, and special hymns to all saints are chanted from the Octoechos.

In the West

The Western Christian holiday of All Saints Day falls on November 1, followed by All Souls' Day on November 2, and is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Latin Rite Roman Catholic Church.

The origin of the festival of All Saints as celebrated in the West dates to May 13, 609 or 610, when Pope Boniface IV consecrated the Pantheon at Rome to the Blessed Virgin and all the martyrs; the feast of the dedicatio Sanctae Mariae ad Martyres has been celebrated at Rome ever since. The chosen day, May 13, was a pagan observation of great antiquity, the culmination of three days of the Feast of the Lemures, in which the malevolent and restless spirits of the dead were propitiated. Medieval liturgiologists based the idea that this Lemuria festival was the origin of that of All Saints on their identical dates and on the similar theme of "all the dead".^{[citation needed]}

The feast of All Saints, on its current date, is traced to the foundation by Pope Gregory III (731–741) of an oratory in St. Peter's for the relics "of the holy apostles and of all saints, martyrs and confessors, of all the just made perfect who are at rest throughout the world", with the day moved to November 1.^[5]

This usually fell within a few weeks of the Celtic holiday of Samhain, which had a theme similar to that of Lemuria, but which was also a harvest festival. The Irish, whose holiday Samhain had been, did not celebrate All Hallows Day on this November 1 date, as extant historical documents attest that the celebration in Ireland took place in the spring: "...the Felire of Oengus and the 'Martyrology of Tallaght' prove that the early medieval churches [in Ireland] celebrated the feast of All Saints on April 20."^[6]

A November festival of all the saints was already widely celebrated on November 1 in the days of Charlemagne. It was made a day of obligation throughout the Frankish empire in 835, by a decree of Louis the Pious, issued "at the instance of Pope Gregory IV and with the assent of all the bishops", which confirmed its celebration on November 1. The octave was added by Pope Sixtus IV (1471—1484).^[3]

The festival was retained after the Reformation in the calendar of the Anglican Church and in many Lutheran churches. In the Lutheran churches, such as the Church of Sweden, it assumes a role of general commemoration of the dead. In the Swedish calendar, the observance takes place on the Saturday between October 31 and November 6. In many Lutheran Churches, it is moved to the first Sunday of November. It is also celebrated by other Protestants of the English tradition, such as the United Church of Canada and the Wesleyan Church. [1]

In the United Methodist Church, All Saint's Day is on the first Sunday in November. It is held to remember all those that have passed away from the local church congregation. A candle is lit by the Acolyte as each person's name is called out. Then, a liturgical prayer is offered for each soul in Heaven.

All Saints in Poland

In Portugal, Spain and Mexico, ofrendas (offerings) are made on this day. In Spain, the play Don Juan Tenorio is traditionally performed. In Austria,Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain people bring flowers to the graves of dead relatives.

In Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Croatia, Austria, Romania, Hungary and catholic parts of Germany, the tradition is to light candles and visit the graves of deceased relatives.

In the Philippines, this day, called "Undas", "Todos los Santos" (literally "All Saints"), and sometimes "Araw ng mga Namayapa" (approximately "Day of the deceased") is observed as All Souls' Day. This day and the one before and one after it is spent visiting the graves of deceased relatives, where prayers and flowers are offered, candles are lit and the graves themselves are cleaned, repaired and repainted.
